Grandchild Lessons
Your Kindergarten Graduation Day
I want to tell you how special this day will be for you as years go by but first, I want to tell you how Special you are to Grandpa and I.
From you we learned what it was like to hold a child and feel a love that we had never known; only a Grandpa and Grandma can really know how wondrous that love truly is. It was a Gift you gave us on the day you were born. We were not to know it then but as each day passed, that gift grew into an even greater gift.... each day we grew to love you more.
You were a beautiful baby! You taught us how to be Grandparents and what a Precious experience our walk through this world with you would be. The day you held up your arms to each of us we knew that for each day of our lives you would teach us how precious and treasured each day of our lives with you would be.
The day will come when you wear your graduation cap and gown once more and on that day the sum of all of your dreams will be ahead of you; the dreams you will have built since you were a child. On that day, we will not again hear... “When I grow up I want to be”. As you continue your walk.... from little footsteps to big footsteps… may you always remember that the path ahead of you will be filled with our love and pride wherever it may lead.
But today begins with your first little footsteps toward that day ahead. You are graduating from kindergarten. You are on your way to each fantastic dream that lies before you. Your days of toys and play and looking up into our eyes will in time become a memory for you, but we will remember as if it was yesterday.
We will hold on to your childhood days for as long as we can; toys and playing games and holding your little hand will forever stay with us in our hearts. We want you to know that today is a beautiful day in our lives and each day we look forward to you looking up to us and teaching us yet another Grandchild Lesson.
So while we have these days with you, can we tell you once more how much we love you? Can we tell you that you are an amazing child? Can we tell you that the world can’t yet see you coming but we will have watched you from the day you were born and…wow… How great this world will become just because of you? Can we tell you that the world’s greatest teachers are Children and that we are so thankful for everything we have learned from you?
Though this day may not last in your memory as a Child, we will have memorized every amazing moment in our hearts. Although you may not understand our words today, you will one day turn around, not as the Child you once were but as an the Incredible Person you will become having made our world a Greater place to be ... as you were destined to... from the day you were born.
Today is such a happy day and today we thank God for thinking we were that Special…. for Him to have placed you in our lives! With every footstep you take from this day on through school, we will always thank you… For Your “Grandchild Lessons”!
